About The Opportunity South Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Visiting Dental Officer (VDO) in Paediatric Dentistry to join our Oral Health team. This position is sessional and is based at Campbelltown Hospital Dental Centre, where you will provide high-quality dental care to children. What You''ll Be Doing Visiting Dental Officers will provide clinical dental care (specialist) to patients of the Oral Health Service in SWSLHD facilities, on a sessional basis. The dental specialist will practice within their complete scope of practice and minimise unnecessary referrals to other centres. Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals, part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District, work together to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the Macarthur region. Responsibilities Provide clinical dental care (specialist) to paediatric patients within the Oral Health Service. Practice within the full scope of your specialty and minimise unnecessary referrals. Qualifications Must be registered (with no conditions) with the Dental Board of Australia as a Specialist in an appropriate specialty (Oral Surgery, Paediatrics, or Special Needs Dentistry) and must maintain current professional indemnity insurance. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated understanding of infection control principles. Understanding of current concepts in clinical practice including activity-based and value-based care. Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary dental teams with good time management and communication skills. Adequate computer skills for clinical and related applications. Commitment to quality assurance and patient safety activities relevant to dental practice. Board-registered specialist dentist in the appropriate specialty.
