With the support of Cardinal Moran and the Little Company of Mary Sisters, the facility opened in 1892 and became known as Mt St Margarets, in memory of Mr Daltons wife and in honour of St Margaret of Scotland. Over the years, the site grew to include a chapel, convent, and nursing school. In 1991, the hospital closed, and the retirement community we know today took shape. Dalton House, the original building, still stands at the heart of the campus.
