OverviewSH 2.0 Cost Controller (m|f|d) Voith HydroLocation: Snowy/Australia Job ID 75803The Project Controller is part of the Commercial Team, working within an integrated project controls function across Germany and Australia, reporting to the Project Controlling Manager / Project Commercial Manager and with a functional reporting line to the Head of Controlling in Germany.As Project Accountant & Controller you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management and control of project costs and provide financial support, guidance, and oversight for specific business projects. You will collaborate closely with all project functions, maintain robust cost control procedures, and assist the implementation of a comprehensive cost control system. The role focuses on generating, updating, and maintaining reports on income, expenditure, and financial transactions, ensuring compliance with contractual and governance requirements and enabling timely decision-making on the project. You will support the Project Commercial Manager by developing cost control processes and procedures and working with Onshore/Offshore cost control and schedulers to manage progress and cost in upstream and internal reporting processes.Snowy 2.0 is a major pumped-hydro project delivering ~2000 MW of dispatchable renewable power and substantial energy storage. Voith is the awarded subcontractor; this role is in connection to that project. Your tasks Liaise with all Voith project functions and accounting/administrative functions on cost control matters. Ensure systems and procedures are implemented in accordance with contract requirements and internal processes. Assist with preparing monthly IPA process and cost reports for Onshore and Offshore. Assist with preparing quarterly CTC process for Onshore and Offshore. Assist project stakeholders with monthly valuation and cost analysis reports, forecasting and cost to complete. Undertake regular audits and plausibility checks of the cost control system to ensure accurate reporting of the projects forecasts of margin. Report errors or misuse of the cost control system to the Project Commercial Manager and assess deviations in financial reports. Prepare analyses or reports as required to verify cost-to-date, cost/margin forecast, invoices and accounts reconciliation. Ensure that budget forecasts, progress monitoring, cost reporting and financial reporting meet project requirements. Collaborate with Cost Control, Accounting, Finance and Scheduling staff as a team. Participate in reviewing subcontract tenders and returnable schedules in respect of pricing and budget analysis. Contribute to establishing project controls procedures, developing WBS, schedules, progress measurement systems, change management systems and risk registers. Support implementation of Project Controls processes and practices including initial WBS and cost coding structures in conjunction with Onshore/Offshore Controlling Team. Supervise creation of large complex schedules and perform reviews where required. Analyse project cost and schedule performance against the control plan and communicate variance and mitigation plans to management. Provide auditing function for projects against project control procedures and suggest corrective actions for non-conformance. Support Snowy project audits including Offshore and Onshore budgets and cost. Provide financial assistance for special requirements such as claim preparation or recovery schedule formation. Develop complex costing analyses, acceleration cost calculations and financial impacts of schedule changes. Participate in monthly cost and budget review meetings and coordinate results with Controlling in Australia/Germany. Assist to establish and report cost against weekly work plans/schedules and packages, progress curves, histograms with Planners/Schedulers. Establish sound cost control and cost forecasting routines; manage project cost management effectively. Ensure upstream contract compliance in respect of cost claiming, reporting and recording. Advise other functions on ITC Schedule and cost recovery avenues for proper financial protection of the project. Archive records methodically in line with procedures as the project progresses. Prepare and/or coordinate reports and identify new ways of managing data for analysis and reporting. Manage cash flow forecasts with Onshore and Offshore teams. Assist in preparing progress claims and cost reporting for work completed; monitor receipt of payment and escalate issues to the Commercial Manager. Collaborate with Project Control on data collection for analysis, reporting and progress claims. Develop understanding of subcontract and head contract to safeguard the projects financial interests. Develop tools to support accurate cost and financial forecasting. Advise on options to maximise cost recovery within the contract framework. Your Profile Numbers-focused with strong interest in analysing complex data. Experience in Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic, and Power BI. At least 5 years in cost control roles with knowledge of accounting and finance in a projects environment. Bachelors degree in Finance/Accounting/Quantity Surveying or related field. Experience in estimating, costing and/or planning of multi-disciplinary projects (at least 5 years). Knowledge of relevant legislation and commercial acumen. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience with SAP or other ERP systems; familiarity with Energy/Hydro projects preferred. Ability to work across multiple time zones with colleagues in Australia, Germany, Canada and China.
