The EmployerOur clients operate four properties in central Victoria, covering a total of 4,500 acres. They specialise in composite self-replacing ewes. In addition to sheep farming, they engage in significant hay production and trade. They also allocate about 120 hectares for crop production.Our clients are passionate about running a sustainable and profitable farm. Training and learning are very important with new ideas and courses undertaken regularly. The farm is operated by a husband and wife, with another full-time employee. Seasonal workers are sourced during busy periods. Company standards include quality, team, sustainability, and loyalty. Satisfaction comes from producing great quality hay, happy customers and happy and healthy stock. They take pride in their operations and are dedicated to sustainable farming practices while maintaining a productive and supportive work environment.Their farming operations are supported by modern machinery, which includes JCB telehandlers, Fendt tractors, John Deere tractors, and Massey Ferguson inline balers equipped with bale barons. Additionally, they have a John Deere mower, a Fendt mower, and a Kuhn round baler.The RoleAs Assistant Farm Manager, your role will involve a mix of responsibilities with a primary focus on sheep management. During peak seasons, all team members will be engaged in hay production. We aim to boost our sheep numbers and enhance profitability in this area.Experience in sheep breeding and hay production would be an advantage. This position is well-suited for someone eager to take on greater responsibilities. Expect to work some weekends during busy periods such as lambing and hay harvest. Your duties will include monitoring pasture quality and assisting with the rotational grazing program while adhering to withholding periods. You will also maintain and repair fences, water systems, and overall farm infrastructure. Key tasks will involve feeding, ensuring animal health, maintaining records, assisting with shearing and lambing, and operating various machinery, including tractors, balers, sprayers, and mowers.The OfferA compensation package will be negotiated based on the candidate''s skills and experience. A neat 4-bedroom home is available for the right applicant that is located 10 minutes to Creswick, 20 minutes to Daylesford, half an hour to Ballarat and only 1 hours to Melbourne CBD. There is a local football and netball club only 2 minutes away.Ballarat has a population of 124,000, with five private secondary schools and five public high schools. There is a school bus available. Ballarat also has one public and one private hospital, along with Mars Wrigley, McCains and an operational mine which are major employers in the area. There is a train service available to Melbourne which runs hourly on weekdays.Creswick has a population of approximately 3,000 people. There are two public primary schools, one private primary school, a daycare centre, and two kindergartens. There is a well-stocked IGA supermarket and two pubs. Creswick is home to the Djuwang Baring bike trails, which have over 60 kilometres of trails that all start from the centre of town.Daylesford population is approximately 3,000. There are a number of primary schools, one public secondary school, a daycare centre, and a hospital. There is a Coles supermarket, along with other fruit and veg businesses and smaller specialty grocers.
