OverviewCompany: Department of Communities and JusticeJob description:Ongoing (35 hrs. per week); Salary 106,025 109,194 pa, plus employers contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. Recruiting to fill current vacancies at Sydney, Parramatta, Gosford, Lismore and Tamworth.Your roleYou will oversee a medium-sized centre or hubs within the NSW Sheriffs Office, managing security and operations and potentially managing satellite courts.You will lead a team ensuring staff are trained and performing efficiently to meet the operational objectives and strategies of the NSW Sheriffs Office in line with legislative requirements.What youll doManage, lead, and develop staff in a Sheriffs Office Centre or HubProvide advice to the Registrar/Regional Commander, prepare reports, and arrange support for other locations during resource shortages or high-risk situationsReview, develop, and implement policies to improve operations, service delivery, and staff trainingEnsure the execution of service processes from various courts, including those from Commonwealth and other States, under the Regional Commanders supervisionAssist Regional Commanders with security plans and risk assessments, ensuring safety for judiciary, jurors, legal professionals, witnesses, and the publicMonitor security equipment, conduct building entry screenings, and implement contingency plans as neededCoordinate jurors for court proceedings, ensuring smooth operations, handling witnesses and exhibits, and maintaining courtroom decorumMaintain office records and databases, including security systems, vehicle usage, work logs, and accounting systemsSupport Regional Commanders in day-to-day operations as a Duty OfficerWhat were looking forExperience in managing resources in a high-pressure and diverse work environmentAbility to provide guidance on complex law enforcement activities and address client complaints by developing and implementing effective solutionsStrong understanding of legal principles and processes and the NSW court systemSound judgement and experience to make independent decisions in relation to day to day security and operational requirementsGood understanding and ability to comply with departmental policies and practices such as harassment prevention, EEO, EAPS, Code of Ethical Conduct, Work, Health and Safety, Ethical Work Practices, Disability Awareness and the Aboriginal Cultural Capability FrameworkThe role is a sworn Sheriffs Officer for the purposes of the Sheriff Act 2005. The role will be required to perform the duties of a Sheriffs Officer as necessary, such as the execution of court orders, and court security dutiesThis role is classified as a commissioned officer under s14 of the Sheriff Act 2005.
