Job Category: Child, Youth and Family ServicesJob DescriptionKalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Child & Family Support Services division. The Kalwun Child & Family Support Services division administers the Family Wellbeing Service, Family Participation Program, Early Learning Program and the Kinship and Foster Care programs within the South East Qld region.* Identified position - applicants must be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person *About the RoleThe Family Connections Convenor plays a vital role in the family led decision making process, supporting Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander children and their familiesPosition DutiesManage and coordinate the family led decision making meetings as required.Ensure the family led decision making process is facilitated in accordance with legislative principles and funding agreement requirements.Prepare people to participate in family meetings, including ensuring that all participants have a clear understanding of the purpose of the family led meeting.Manage conflict that may occur within the family led decision making process.Liaise with relevant internal staff, stakeholders and the departmentAssist families in developing family led plans for submission to the department.Maintain accurate records of case plans and other relevant information in accordance with departmental guidelines.Build respectful and professional relationships with service users, agencies, partners, community, colleagues, elders and clientsMinimum Certificate IV qualification or higher in Social Work/Human Services or relevant field.Must have minimum 12 months of meeting convening experience or similarAboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage and extensive community and cultural connectedness.Experience appropriate to the role and qualification relevant to the Human Services sector.An awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities and cultures and the historical and contemporary issues relevant to the needs of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients, and proven capacity to communicate appropriatelyA demonstrated thorough knowledge of child protection issues, legislation and requirements and relevant issues specific to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and familiesConflict resolution, preventative planning and time management skills.Proficiency in MS Office, use of contemporary office equipment and data entry.Preferred skills & experienceProviding a relevant guidance and advice to practitioners around vulnerable Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families and childrenLiaising efficiently with a range of services in particular, families, community, elders advisory groups, child safety and legal services.Ensure the program is reporting and adhering to KPI''sEffectively using oral and written skills communication skillsExcellent organisational, interpersonal, time management, team work and coordination skills in the office environment.Efficiently undertaking and completing administration tasksProviding an excellent customer serviceWhat we offerKalwun values the contributions of all staff and is committed to providing an inclusive workplace where all staff feel accepted, included and welcomed.
