Our emergency and disaster response and recovery team can provide immediate financial and practical assistance for those impacted by significant natural or man-made disasters, and our services provide medium and long-term holistic care that focuses on the restoration of physical, emotional, environmental, and economic well-being.Number of Positions Available2About The RoleAs a Cook, this is your opportunity to provide quality meals for emergency catering services in the depot kitchen or mobile catering units at emergency or disaster sites to serve to fire fighters, Police or other first responders or evacuees during an emergency in Western Australia. Reporting to the Head Chef, this is a permanent, full-time position based in Malaga, WA. This role requires the ability to work overtime including out of hours on workdays, weekends and public holidays.Salary and conditionsSalary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, Level 2.How You Will Make An ImpactAssist with the planning and implementation of a seasonal based menu.Prepare meals in onsite field kitchens or in our depot kitchen following established recipes and minimising waste.Ensure food is packaged and frozen in line with established procedures.Order food items or cleaning supplies as required.Assist with maintaining stock levels ensuring old stock is used first.What You Will BringFood Safety Supervisor Certificate or ability to obtain.Experience working as a cook in a commercial environment for at least 2 years.Knowledge and experience of safe food handling practices.Certificate III in commercial Cookery Certificate (desirable).Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).A current National Police Clearance.Current unrestricted WA Drivers Licence.Medium or Heavy Rigid Drivers License or ability to obtain (Desirable).Shift work and overtime including out of hours on workdays, weekends and public holidays are a requirement of this role.What We OfferSalary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities.Flexible working arrangements.Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives incl Fitness Passport.Ongoing training and development opportunities that enhance on the job skills and proficiency.Rewarding and fulfilling purpose driven careers that have positive and sustainable / social impacts.The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people.We value people of all cultures, languages, capacities, sexual orientations, gender identities and/or expressions.
