Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health, Safety & Rail Safety Manager to lead and manage all aspects of health, safety, and rail safety compliance across the Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 project. The role ensures the safety and wellbeing of our workforce, stakeholders and the public, while driving a strong culture of safety excellence throughout the project. This is a pivotal role based at our main office in Docklands with frequent travel to construction sites across eight locations from Wandong to Benalla to provide handson leadership, guidance and oversight. Project Description Inland Rail is transforming the freight network across Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program spanning approximately 305 km of existing northeast rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. Tranche 2 works will deliver track alignment adjustments, road overbridge provisions and station modifications to enable safe operation of doublestack freight trains across eight sites. Responsibilities Develop, implement and maintain health, safety and rail safety management systems in line with legislative and project requirements. Lead the health and safety and rail safety teams to provide support and expertise to the project delivery team. Provide expert advice and guidance on health, safety and rail safety matters. Lead incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture across the project. Monitor and report on safety performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement. Ensure compliance with rail safety regulations and standards, including the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL). Qualifications Proven experience in a health and safety management role, ideally within the rail or construction industry. Strong knowledge of health, safety and rail safety legislation, standards and best practices. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams to achieve safety excellence. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Relevant qualifications in Work Health and Safety (WHS) and/or Rail Safety. Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis. A proactive and solutionsfocused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
