Executive Director of Medical Services (518258) Apply for the Executive Director of Medical Services role at the Department of Health, Tasmania. Position Details Fixed term, fulltime day worker (with on call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight. Commencing January2026 for a period of three years. Hours, pay package, and allowance details follow below. Responsibilities Provide specialist medical leadership to the organisation on all aspects of its operation, particularly strategic policy and direction for the medical workforce, quality and safety of patient care and patient flow through effective clinical governance. Represent the interests of the Tasmanian community through strong medical leadership and the promotion of continuous improvement in local and statewide wholeofsystem clinical service provision. Collaborate with the Hospital North West clinical governance structure and other stakeholders to deliver high quality patient care across North West Tasmania. Support the management and operation of the North West Regional Hospital and Mersey Community Hospital, with oversight of services including emergency, general medical, obstetrics, paediatrics, anaesthesia, surgery, rehabilitation, oncology, intensive care and outpatient services. Ensure compliance with medical statutes and regulations, and maintain current registration and licences. Eligibility & Requirements Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty. Registration/licences must remain current and valid at all times. Desirable: Fellowship or Associate Fellowship of RACMA or equivalent postgraduate health management qualification, current drivers licence. Successful applicant will meet essential criteria and may be considered for 12month rolling selection for similar vacancies. Salary & Benefits Salary range: Specialist Medical Practitioner Level1Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level3, $216,300$310,389 per annum, prorata+12% superannuation. Salary packaging options: living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment yearly. Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or allowance of $28,786 per annum, prorata. Allowance in lieu of private practice scheme35%, North West Recruitment and Retention Allowance20%. Generous relocation assistance and accommodation support available.
