Base pay range A$95,187.00/yr A$108,734.00/yr The Role The Defence Library Service is seeking to fill two leadership roles. As part of a small, collaborative leadership team, youll play a key role in delivering highquality library services that meet Defences evolving needs. Each member leads distinct functions but works closely to drive innovation and achieve shared goals. Service Delivery Librarian Primary Responsibilities: Lead staff and manage deliverables, contributing to service innovation and strategic planning. Work independently and collaboratively, applying initiative and sound judgement to foster team cohesion and success. Manage the Australian Defence College library team, including collections and service delivery. Leverage technology to enhance research capability, digital literacy, customer education, and information awareness across Defence. Improve resource discoverability and user experience, and promote library services aligned with organisational priorities. Skills & Experience: Experience delivering hybrid library services with emphasis on digitalfirst delivery. Ability to engage and influence stakeholders, building productive relationships. Strong organisational and communication skills, with a proactive, detailoriented approach. Strategic mindset, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement. Digital Resource and Systems Librarian Primary Responsibilities: Lead staff and deliverables, contributing to service innovation and strategic planning. Work independently and collaboratively, applying initiative and sound judgement to foster team cohesion and success. Manage library platforms to ensure usability, responsiveness, and compliance. Provide expert input into system evaluation, lead integration, and enhancement activities. Partner with ICT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve issues and drive service improvements. Skills & Experience: Experience implementing and integrating library systems with a focus on ICT, governance, and security compliance. Ability to engage and influence stakeholders, building productive relationships. Strong organisational and communication skills, with a proactive, detailoriented approach. Strategic mindset, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement. The Defence Library Service (DLS) supports this mission by providing contemporary, customerfocused library and information services to all Defence personnel. DLS is responsible for: Delivering national library and information services aligned with Defence capability, education, and policy. Curating and managing collections to meet Defences diverse operational, strategic, and policy needs. Providing expert research support to inform decisionmaking, planning and professional development. Managing digital resources for secure, reliable, and flexible access across Defence environments. Leveraging technology to enhance service delivery, resource discoverability and information access. Promoting library services and building customer education to support informed, empowered users.
