Primary objective Intensive Care Specialist to fulfil clinical and nonclinical duties in relation to critical care in the Top End Health Service. Context statement The position is open to all Fellows of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop in teaching, safety and quality, cardiac ultrasound, ECMO and research. Understanding and acceptance of the principles of good cultural care are required. Key duties and responsibilities Deliver expert management of patients admitted to, or referred to, the RDH Intensive Care Unit, in alignment with departmental policies, clinical guidelines and best practice standards. Provide specialist advice and support for the care of critically ill patients across the Northern Territory and the Kimberley region of Western Australia, including those in geographically isolated centres. Provide routine and emergency afterhours care, including participation in extended hours roster, on call and weekend coverage. Supervise, support and assess the performance of junior ICU medical staff, maintaining high standards of clinical care. Engage in continuous medical education and professional development activities, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, peer review, research, quality improvement initiatives and clinical audit. Represent the ICU on hospital committees in a collaborative and respectful manner, contributing to effective crossdepartmental partnerships within RDH. Adhere to established service quality standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and organisational policies to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and highquality clinical services. Promote and model a positive workplace culture through strong leadership, professionalism and supportive team behaviours. Qualifications Unconditional medical registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) or anticipated to be admitted within 12 months. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage constructively and respectfully within a crosscultural workplace. Proven capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and to adhere to standardised clinical guidelines and protocols. Commitment to ongoing professional development, education, teaching, audit, research, adherence to national safety and quality standards, organ donation processes and the development of clinical guidelines. Demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering critical care services in a remote and diverse setting, acknowledging the unique healthcare challenges of Darwin and the Northern Territory with a commitment to advancing Indigenous health outcomes. Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience.
