About Context Engineering This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technical leader to join a boutique consulting business conveniently located in a brand-new dog friendly office in the heart of Stones Corner. Context Engineering is a civil engineering design consultancy specialising in complex urban development across Queensland, NSW, and Victoria. Over the past four years, weve experienced rapid growth in both our team and our client base. Role Overview Were now looking for a Senior Civil Engineer (RPEQ) to step into a key technical role, lead delivery of a growing portfolio of residential, commercial, and industrial projects, and help shape the business as we scale. This senior role combines your engineering expertise with emerging or established leadership, providing an exciting opportunity to influence project outcomes as well as the growth and development of our engineering team. As a senior member of our team, you will manage technical delivery across a broad range of projects including RPEQ supervision and sign-off while supporting and mentoring emerging talent as the team grows. Working closely with the Director and senior team, youll also help shape our design standards, enhance delivery processes, and drive innovation across the business. This position is integral to our ongoing expansion and success, offering a platform for you to have a direct impact on the future of civil engineering design in Queensland and beyond. Please note: This is a fully in-office role based at our vibrant Stones Corner office, allowing you to collaborate closely with the team on-site. Skills & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from a University recognised by Engineers Australia. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and/or Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng). 5+ years of proven technical experience managing complex design and construction projects, preferably in a consulting environment. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Tenacity to solve complex engineering problems and commitment to continuous professional development. Proficiency with civil design software preferred (Civil3D, 12d Model). Valid Australian Drivers Licence and Construction Industry White Card. Key Responsibilities Your role will be a balanced mix of technical design and leadership, including the following: Technical Leadership & Project Delivery (60%) Lead and take ultimate responsibility for the quality and compliance of civil engineering designs, including RPEQ supervision and signoff of specialist reports and design documentation. Review and certify water and sewer designs under the Urban Utilities Endorsed Consultant Scheme. Review site information to develop detailed project briefs and delivery plans for complex developments. Provide expert technical advice, troubleshooting, and strategic input throughout project lifecycles. Provide technical feedback and oversight during construction to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with design intent. Manage commercial risk proactively, applying sound engineering and business judgment to project decisions. Manage and mentor a growing team of enthusiastic designers and drafters, supporting their technical skill and professional growth. Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Oversee team workflow, ensuring tasks are prioritised and deadlines are met. Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback. Collaborate with the Admin Manager to support recruitment and onboarding as the team expands. Business Development (20%) Identify and pursue new project opportunities, contributing to strategic business growth; prepare detailed proposals and fee submissions for complex projects. Attend external meetings, site visits, and design workshops, proactively supporting project development and improvements. Develop and implement strategic goals aligned with business growth plans. Lead the teams contribution to building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and project partners. Contribute to positioning Context Engineering as a trusted design partner through professional conduct, responsiveness, and quality delivery.
