Job Title: Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Support Officer - Female Kalpa purru Wirranjarlki - Public Health Services Section Location: Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region Salary: $69,281 - $74,908 per annum Benefits: $15,899.94p/a salary packaging, $1,500p/a professional development incentive, 6 weeks annual leave, free general dentistry, Remote retention allowance of $750, full time TIS Support Officer in our Public Health Services Section Employment Type: Full Time Reports to: Public Health Executive Manager About The Role Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) is offering a full time Aboriginal Identified Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Support Officer Female to join its Kalpa Purru Wirranjarlki Public Health Services Section, based in Tennant Creek. In consultation with community, the officer will be part of a small team responsible for developing, promoting and undertaking a range of evidencebased resources and activities aimed to reduce smoking uptake, promote smokefree spaces, and support smoking cessation across Aboriginal communities within the Barkly region. Duties Support ongoing development, coordination and facilitation of positive engagement, interventions and activities in accordance with the TIS programme guidelines and organisational policies. Assist the Team Leader and Communications and Education Officer in the delivery of regional smoking prevention campaigns, community events, forums and information sharing. Proactively support development of sustainable respectful networks with communities across the Barkly Region. Support the National Best Practice Unit to identify, develop and assist in the delivery of responsive smoking prevention and cessation social marketing campaigns. Uphold the vision, mission and priorities of the organisation as determined by the Board of Directors and outlined in its Strategic Plan. Identify and manage risk or potential risk to clients to reduce immediate concerns. Ensure all programme material and content is up-to-date, appropriate, relevant and engaging for the target audience. Undertake administrative duties including report writing and timely management of electronic client data records to ensure compliance with funding obligations. Actively contribute to a professional and culturally safe work environment. Promote and support alcohol, tobacco and other drugs free workplace strategies. Collaborate with key stakeholders including community, government and notforprofit agencies, representing and advocating for Anyinginyi and the TIS programme. Work within the limits of confidentiality and privacy appropriate to the TIS programme. Participate in staff training and development, sitebased team meetings, collaborative planning activities and other relevant meetings. Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes, including work health and safety, to meet professional and industry standards. Travel to remote communities. About You As this is an Aboriginal Identified position, applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. An Ochre Card (NT Working with Childrens card) obtainment is a requirement prior to commencement. Please refer to NT Safe for further information. Essential Skills And Experience Minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal Health or equivalent; or willingness to undertake training to obtain this qualification. Experience working in Aboriginal community health or welfare services and ability to support culturally responsive programmes. Welldeveloped interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective networks, particularly with diverse Aboriginal community groups. Demonstrated task completion for community forums or events with due dates. Strong communication skills to report and inform a multidisciplinary team and in crossagency and crosscultural environments. Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. Ability to work as part of a team. Current NT drivers licence. Desirable Experience and knowledge of the Tennant Creek and Barkly Region. Knowledge of the Barkly Region and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. 4WD training. We are not asking for a resume.
