Youll play a key role in keeping our community informed, promoting Council initiatives, and ensuring our voice is clear, confident, and aligned with our values.Your core responsibilities will include:Planning and implementing Council-wide communications and marketing strategiesDeveloping internal communication frameworks and media messagingResponding to media enquiries and preparing press releases, speeches, and editorial contentManaging Councils social media, website, and digital communication platformsProducing newsletters, community updates, and corporate publicationsCoordinating media support and promotion for Council events and initiativesSupporting economic development messaging and public relations projectsProviding timely and accurate information during emergency situationsLiaising with internal teams and external stakeholders to align communicationsTracking media activity and reporting on relevant issues impacting CouncilEnhancing Councils public image and ensuring consistent brandingWho Were Looking For A Voice for Community ConnectionYoull bring a Degree or Diploma in Communications, Marketing, or a related field, along with 35 years experience in communications, media, or marketing ideally within government or community-focused sectors.To succeed, youll also bring:Proven experience in communications strategy and content developmentHigh-level written and verbal communication skillsStrong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilityProficiency with digital tools, including Microsoft Office, desktop publishing software, and social media platformsAbility to work autonomously and manage multiple prioritiesA valid Class C Drivers LicenceAustralian work rightsWed also love if you bring:Experience in local government or public sector settingsUnderstanding of community engagement practicesFamiliarity with web content management systemsSkills in media relations, event coordination, and corporate publicationsThe ability to stay calm, constructive, and solution-focused under pressureAs the ideal candidate, you''re not just a communicator youre a storyteller, a strategist, and a bridge between Council and community.
