About GCASA Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (GCASA) provides comprehensive sexual assault support and treatment services across Gippsland. Culturally inclusive, GCASA supports diverse communities and operates within a framework protecting rights and dignity. Services include counselling, information, resources, group work, and professional training. Key Responsibilities Responding to client, community referrals and stakeholder referrals including SOCIT, Child Protection, The Orange Door and allied services, GPs, schools and families. Conducting initial risk assessment and ongoing risk management in accordance with MARAM framework. Conducting initial and ongoing assessments, case formulations, intervention planning and review using the 5P Framework. Undertaking brief care coordination with a focus on safety and stability. Providing secondary consultation to allied professionals. Advocating on behalf of clients as appropriate. Maintaining accurate and confidential client files, uptodate statistical records and other required records. Participating in clinical client supervision and line management supervision in accordance with GCASAs supervision policy. Participating in planning for the Agencys work by attending team meetings, service reviews, service evaluations and ongoing professional development. Maintaining uptodate knowledge and sustaining professional skill development in sexual assault issues and counselling practice including trauma, attachment, neurobiology, feminist theory and social inclusion principles. Key Selection Criteria Degree level qualification or equivalent certification in social welfare, counselling, social work, family therapy, psychology, creative arts therapies or community mental health nursing. A minimum of 2 years recent counselling experience working with children, young people and adults within a therapeutic setting, providing short to mediumterm traumainformed intervention. Knowledge of the incidence and impact of sexual assault and understanding of the dynamics that support sexual assault, including feminist empowerment philosophy and social inclusion theory. Welldeveloped organisational skills, including time management, ability to multitask, broad computer/IT skills and highlevel communication skills using data systems that support client management and record keeping. Knowledge of legislation governing the collection and storage of personal information, client confidentiality and protection of children/young people through mandatory reporting. Demonstrated experience in assessment and ability to respond to client needs and distress as first entry point to service. Staff must provide original documentation or certified copies prior to appointment and maintain registration and credentialing for the duration of employment. The Successful Applicant Will Be willing to travel across the region and to Melbourne for training and development. Hold a current Victorian drivers licence. Hold a current Working with Childrens check. Provide a current National Criminal Check. Undertake a DFFH Statutory Declaration relating to any CP intervention, IVO and court pending.
