Mackay Regional Council is looking for a handson, cando Multi Skilled Labourer Operator to join our Infrastructure & Operations Civil Operations team. As an RMPC Multi Skilled Labourer Operator, youll be the muscle and the machine behind Mackays civil infrastructure. From driving heavy trucks to laying pipes and pouring concrete, youll be part of a team that builds and maintains the backbone of our region. What Youll Be Doing Operating rigid motor vehicles (GVM 15 tonne) and vehicle/trailer combos (GCM 22.5 tonne) Handling small rideon equipment and light mechanical plant Performing earthworks, pipelaying, concrete and bitumen work, and vegetation maintenance Carrying out handson labouring tasks for roads and drainage projects Maintaining and repairing assigned plant with mechanical service teams Managing traffic safely around work sites Delivering topnotch service to internal and external clients Completing paperwork like timesheets accurately and promptly Training and mentoring fellow team members Following Councils policies on WH&S, EEO, AntiDiscrimination, and Quality Assurance Minimising environmental impact through best practice procedures Participating in ongoing training and skill development Qualifications & Experience Essential General Construction Safety White Card QLD Manual Car C Class Open Drivers Licence QLD Heavy Rigid Truck HR Class Licence Traffic Controllers Ticket Experience driving single axle trucks in varied conditions Experience operating road construction equipment Experience in road and drainage construction/maintenance Desirable Certificate III in Civil Construction Concrete work experience Tickets to operate at least two types of plant/equipment (e.g. skid steer loader, roller, loader, backhoe, grader) Skills & Knowledge Essential Good plant operation skills and competency Good truck driving skills and competency Sound oral and written communication skills Manual handling skills Concrete formwork and placement work Sound pipelaying skills Ability to work cooperatively with others and foster a team environment Good skills in dealing with internal and external clients Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety regulations relevant to the Construction Industry Ability to read, write and perform basic numerical calculations to a standard required for the role Good knowledge of roads and drainage construction and maintenance activities Desirable Concrete finishing skills Special Requirements Willingness and flexibility to work overtime outside normal hours, where required, to undertake assigned tasks. Commitment to working cooperatively with others and foster team environment in line with the Civil Operations/Civil Projects Team Book. Willingness to operate other construction equipment and undertake higher duties, where required, to meet task objectives, as directed by Supervisor. Proactively support, assist and communicate with the Leading Hand/Supervisor to complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently and to improve service delivery. Why Join Us?
