About The Position To lead and manage Muswellbrook Shire Councils Tourism and Events team to bring visitors to the Shire and enhance our lifestyle. The position is responsible for planning, promoting and managing major visitor economy and tourism initiatives and the effective delivery of range of Council events and activities. The position will build strong relationship with the community to support partnership events and in the attraction of sponsorship. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement Councils Destination Management Plan within a regional context and prioritise associated actions and activities for funding and delivery Oversee Councils visitor information centres Engage with and manage relationships with sponsors and manage Councils sponsorship arrangements to support the delivery of events Work with destination networks and business/ tourism associations to promote the region and to build capacity in local event organisers and tourism operators. Plan, deliver and develop a range of Council organised events and support partnership events across the Shire which maximise economic impact. Manage and lead the Tourism and Events Unit, contractors and suppliers, in the effective delivery of tourism and event services and activities Read the Position Description and learn more about this exciting opportunity. About You Degree qualification in business, tourism, event management or an equivalent combination of relevant contemporary experience and/or education/training Substantial tourism and events industry knowledge and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of tourism strategies Demonstrated high level project management practices to deliver events and initiatives in partnership with the community, government and other departments Proven ability to collect, analyse information and prepare reports and presentations to inform sound decision making Proven ability to control budgets including grant funding, reporting on success measures, and project outcomes What We Offer Permanent, full time, 35 hours per week Salary from $93,352 to $120,809 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation Training Courses + Professional Development Flexible work arrangements with access to Indoor Accrued Time (Flexi) 40% discount on yearly Aquatic and Fitness Centre membership for staff and families at local facility (conditions apply) Access to EAP program for employees and their immediate family About Muswellbrook Muswellbrook Shire Council is a progressive local government area, located under two hours from Newcastle and Tamworth and three hours from Sydney, in the beautiful Upper Hunter Valley.
