OverviewJoin to apply for the STORE/NIGHT DEPT LEADER role at Kroger Mountain View Foods.Job description overview and responsibilities focus on creating an outstanding customer experience, maintaining a safe and clean environment, directing and supervising department functions, and supporting day-to-day Grocery operations while embracing the Customer 1st strategy and company core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.ResponsibilitiesPromote trust and respect among associates.Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals.Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.Train and develop associates on job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make product suggestions.Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.Inform customers of grocery specials. Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.Implement the period promotional plan for the department.Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.Monitor and control expenses for the department.Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate action on all financial reports.Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note discrepancies in inventory.Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify management.Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate management of any repair needs.Notify management of customer or employee accidents; report all safety risks or issues and illegal activity (robbery, theft or fraud).Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.Ability to follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.QualificationsMinimumEffective communication skillsKnowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)Ability to handle stressful situationsDesiredHigh school education or equivalent preferredManagement experience preferredGrocery experienceRetail experienceAbout UsBased in Washington, Qualify Food Centers (QFC) merged with The Kroger Company in 1998.
