If youre organised, adaptable, and keen to make a difference, wed love to hear from you.Purpose of the Position:The Senior Finance Officer plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of AMCS. This position coordinates day-to-day finance administration, assists with core finance processes including reconciliations, payroll inputs, reporting and budgeting, and supports the effective use of AMCS financial systems and workflows.Working closely with the Operations Director and external finance services, the role ensures the smooth and accurate flow of financial information across the organisation. It also contributes to compliance, procurement and operational support functions in line with AMCS policies and strategic priorities.Primary Responsibilities:Finance Processing and ReconciliationAct as the main contact for day-to-day finance queries and liaison with AMCSs external finance and payroll providerSupport the coordination of day-to-day finance administration, including accounts payable, receivable, and monthly credit card and other account reconciliationsAssist with payment processes and monitor banking activity to ensure timely processing and accurate reconciliation of transactionsCoordinate payroll inputs and approvals, and support internal payroll processing over timeLead the reconciliation of income and payments across AMCS financial systems, ensuring accuracy across all payment methods and alignment with accounting recordsSupport cashflow reporting and forecasting with the Operations Director and finance providerAssist with the preparation of tax and superannuation reporting, working with the finance provider as neededAssist with financial reporting, budgeting preparation, financial projections, audits, and grant acquittals as requiredFinance Systems and SupportSupport the improvement and integration of AMCSs finance systems, tools, and workflows, ensuring efficient data flow across platformsSupport staff to use financial systems and tools, through documentation and training as neededDevelop and maintain internal finance processes, policies, templates, and tools to support accuracy, transparency, and continuous improvementOperational Support and ComplianceMaintain supplier and contract records relevant to finance processes, and support contract management by tracking key dates and compliance obligationsAssist with the preparation of statutory and regulatory reporting (e.g. ACNC, fundraising licences), including drafting reports and coordinating dataLiaise with brokers and maintain up-to-date insurance schedules and renewalsContribute to the review and maintenance of relevant financial and administrative procedures, ensuring alignment with organisational and legislative requirementsSupport AMCSs operational initiatives and commitments, including First Nations engagement activities, as relevant to the roleSelection CriteriaExperience in accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, payroll coordination, and general financial administration. A qualification in Accounting, Operations, Business Administration or related discipline will be highly regarded.Familiarity with finance systems (e.g. Xero, MYOB) and payroll systems (e.g. Xero Payroll, Employment Hero) with the ability to maintain accurate records and contribute to process improvements. Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce or similar database is an advantage.Understanding of procurement and finance policy compliance. Familiarity with charity statutory reporting and contract admin is desirable.Strong organisational skills with a focus on accuracy, meeting deadlines, and managing competing tasks.Clear and professional communicator, able to communicate finance processes effectively to staff across the organisation and maintain strong working relationships with external finance providers and stakeholders.Commitment to achieving positive change for our oceans and upholding AMCS values.WHY WORK WITH USYoull play an important role in protecting our oceans.
