Your Role at St John of God Midland Hospital We are excited to invite experienced Senior Speech Pathologists to join our team, working closely with a dynamic multidisciplinary group to deliver advanced clinical speech pathology services to clients and patients. As a Senior Speech Pathologist, you will be a key driver in advancing clinical excellence by leading teaching and training initiatives, participating in quality improvement activities, and providing valuable supervision and mentorship to students and junior staff. Your contributions will help shape the future of speech pathology within a supportive and professional environment that values your experience and leadership. We are currently seeking Senior Speech Pathologists to join our casual pool, providing flexible leave cover and backfill support, with the possibility of fixedterm opportunities emerging in the future. Responsibilities Provision of speech pathology services at a senior level, including assessment of patients with communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders. Development of individual treatment and therapy programs (with long and shortterm goals), including for more complex patients. Documentation of assessment results, treatment procedures and progress in the medical record, with communication of these to the referring party and other parties involved in the patient''s management. Participation in relevant patientrelated meetings, including ward round, family conferences and patient review meetings. Counseling patients and family members regarding communication/swallowing disorders. Actively prioritise own and team caseload, including participating in relevant clinical review meetings and case conferences as appropriate. Supports and liaises with patients, carers, colleagues, medical, nursing, allied health, support staff, external agencies and the private sector to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care. Responsible for completing appropriate administrative duties, including statistics and patient notes. Educate patients/carers in assessment, treatment and postdischarge management and organise discharge summaries/referrals to other services, as appropriate. Participates in evidencebased clinical research activities where required. Qualifications The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and current full membership with Speech Pathology Australia, bringing demonstrated senior clinical experience and leadership in a specialised area of clinical practice within a healthcare setting. You will act as a consultant and educator at a senior level, providing professional supervision and mentoring to junior staff to support their ongoing development and competence. With a strong focus on innovation, the successful candidate will develop evidencebased clinical practices and take initiative in leading quality improvement activities. You will proactively drive positive change and contribute to enhancing clinical standards within the team.
