Position: Solicitor - Must have 3-4 years post Restrictive Practice Location: Karlkurla (Kalgoorlie), WA Salary: $185,000 $195,000 per year plus remote area salary packaging for Not-For-Profit Organisations. AFLS provides internal counsellors for employees and/or external EAP We are looking for solicitors who are passionate and committed to working in a dynamic and diverse holistic legal service, working with clients, communities and families affected by family violence. You will have the opportunity of working collaboratively with a team of both legal and non-legal staff, including aboriginal Court Advocates and Family Advocates to ensure clients receive a holistic service, whilst also having the skills and abilities to work autonomously. This role requires a solicitor to work with and take advice from the Regional Manager of the office and the Deputy Director and/or Director of Legal Practice. The successful applicant/s reports directly to the Deputy Director of Legal. The role would suit someone who is passionate about social justice and working in the community, has strong legal and communication skills, are able to liaise with diverse range of stakeholder / clients and can provide good sound legal and practical advice. You will have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of cases, including Duty Lawyer services, shuttle conferencing services and delivering Community Legal Education. The role includes: Providing sound legal advice to clients in a range of areas of law Casework Advocacy work Managing client files Drafting correspondence and court documents Working alongside Aboriginal Court Advocates Working alongside Family Advocates Working with Community Education Workers Appearing in various Courts throughout Western Australia Representing clients in mediations and other forms of ADR Delivering Community Legal Education Working closely with non-legal staff AFLS is an Equal Opportunity Employer Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are encouraged to apply.
