The NSW Central Coast is positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, with a population that is expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 before 2030.Palliative Care Medicine holds accreditation in Advanced Training in the following: 6 months Inpatient palliative care term at Gosford Palliative Care unit6 months Gosford Hospital Consult term or Cancer care term6 months Wyong Hospital consult term6 months Community term based at Long Jetty HospitalPalliative Care is also approved for people wishing to complete their Clinical Foundation in Palliative Medicine (6 months)Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and a trauma centre for the Central Coast, with approximately 500 inpatient beds and 24-hour access to its Emergency Department and Operating Theatres.Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern part of the NSW Central Coast.For more information about what it is like to work with us, please visit our Facebook page.Responsibilities and qualifications: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.Australian and NZ Graduates/Competent Authority Pathway Candidates: Completion of 3 post graduate years or more as a medical officer in an acute hospital setting and practiced clinical medicine in an acute hospital setting for a minimum of 12 months out of the past 2 years.Standard Pathway Candidates: Completion of a minimum of 4 postgraduate years or more as a medical officer in an acute hospital setting and practiced clinical medicine in an acute hospital setting for a minimum of 12 months out of the past 2 years.Experience in assessing and delivering medical care to Palliative Care or similar type patients is desired.Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients.Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.Demonstrated time management, problem solving skills and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills, with minimum of 30 words per minute.Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.NSW Health acknowledges the people of the many traditional countries and language groups of New South Wales.
