The position will involve working as part of a multiagency team, liaising with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authoritys legal team regarding assigned cases.About YouYou are an investigator with experience in the preparation of briefs of evidence for submission for litigation, for instance to the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.You will have excellent negotiation skills and have the proven ability to work collaboratively with individuals, groups and management.You have experience in managing competing priorities and workloads to meet strict deadlines.You have an eye for detail and are experienced in the application of legislation and the use of legislative instruments in an investigative context.You have experience in environmental and/or maritime compliance.The key duties of the position include:Investigate and manage cases for offences that relate to the State and Commonwealth jurisdictions of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and Island National Parks.Prepare case recommendations to finalise matters in a manner that is consistent with established compliance strategies, investigative procedures and in the best interest of the protection of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.Prepare and submit briefs of evidence to the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and State Litigation Teams and assist in managing the prosecutions as directed.Establish and maintain relationships with internal and partner agency staff that enable efficient and effective case work, including standing up joint agency investigative teams where there is crossjurisdictional interest.Be an independent problemsolver and research complex legislative issues to provide accurate advice and ensure investigations and enforcement actions are legally sound and defensible.Board recreational, commercial and shipping vessels to exercise powers and undertake investigative tasks.Obtain and maintain appointment as an Inspector and Authorised Officer under the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act within the relevant probationary period.Be an Australian citizen at the time of application.Obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.Provide identity documents and undergo an identity preemployment check through a Document Verification Service.Have experience in investigation activities within law enforcement or regulatory agencies.Hold a Certificate IV in Government Investigations or Diploma of Government Investigations or equivalent.Obtain and maintain a Queenslands Marine Parks and Nature Conservation Acts appointment within 12 months of commencement.RecruitAbility applies to this vacancy.
