Remuneration & Closing Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $93,611, plus up to 13% superannuation Closing Date: Sunday 2nd November 2025 at 11.00pm AEST Role Overview Gympie Regional Council has an exciting new opportunity for a Fixed Term full time position up to two years with the possibility of an extension. The Senior Project Officer - DRFA Program is responsible for providing a high-level coordination and oversight between internal departments, project teams and external stakeholders, including funding bodies, to ensure successful delivery of flood recovery projects. Reporting directly to the Manager Operations Roads and Drainage, this role supports strategic initiatives by managing stakeholder engagement, tracking project progress, managing grant funding processes and resolving issues that may impact delivery. The role provides high-level administrative, project, procurement, grant application and contract administration functions for the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) Program, ensuring compliance with legislation and funding body requirements. Responsibilities Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams. Proficiency in project management tools, reporting systems and grant application management. Operate independently with minimal supervision in a professional and positive manner; be tactful and discreet with sensitive matters. Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; consult, communicate and solve problems effectively in a multidisciplinary environment within guidelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to produce high-quality documents and reports (Excel or Smartsheet). Knowledge of office procedures including time management, planning and organisational skills to meet deadlines. Minimum 3-5 years experience in a liaison, coordination, or stakeholder engagement role. Queensland C Class drivers license or above (current and maintained). Act as the primary liaison between council, contractors and government agencies. Facilitate meetings, workshops and consultations to gather input and communicate project updates. Prepare timely and accurate reporting, briefing notes and correspondence on funding progress and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders. Identify emerging risks and issues and assist in developing mitigation strategies. Investigate and identify relevant DRFA funding opportunities from federal and state sources. Prepare and submit high-quality grant applications in collaboration with stakeholders. Track timelines, budgets and deliverables; ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Maintain accurate records of project activities, applications, approvals, milestones and reporting; ensure funding compliance. Liaise with funding bodies (including the Queensland Reconstruction Authority) and support internal teams and community stakeholders. Maintain understanding of DRFA guidelines and ensure program activities meet compliance requirements. Undertake procurement and contract administration activities, including tender preparation and evaluations. Review and analyse invoices, contract terms and cost allocations. Provide high-level project support for the Flood Recovery Program and other DRFA projects. Enter and reconcile financial information using Councils systems. Provide professional and responsive customer service to internal departments and external stakeholders. Supervise the Officer Project Support - DRFA Program, providing guidance and performance oversight. Ensure projects comply with applicable legislation, policies and procedures.
