After more than 35 years operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage. Bechtel will be working alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. A collaborative project, this project will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru community. As Cost Engineer, you will perform routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities and support the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, preparation of cost data, and the project trend program. You will assist with budget allocation and developing quantity takeoffs, project codes, and application unit rates. Your work will help ensure projects stay on budget and excel. Major Responsibilities: Perform routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed. Support the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports. Assist with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines. Prepare cost data for proposals or contracts. Coordinate the development and accuracy of cost reports. Verify consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency. Prepare specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures. Collect and classify cost data. Prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelors degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in using PC operating systems and multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used by Bechtel (e.g., Ecosys, Hyperion, Digital Supply Chain). Knowledge of financial report systems and controller account codes, and understanding of Controller instructions that impact Project Controls. Advanced level of understanding of Project Controls general technical skills. Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel. Knowledge of engineering and/or construction management is customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
