About the Role The overall purpose of the Youth Worker, Residential Care is to provide care and support to children and young people in out-of-home care and/or living within atrisk families. The care and support improves opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities, develop positive self-regard, gain community inclusion, maintain healthy relations with families of origin and contribute to placement stability. What a day in the life of a Residential Youth Worker looks like Planning and engaging in meaningful activities with the young person. Being a vital part of a cohesive team, dedicated to helping young people achieve their personal goals. Promoting good hygiene and nutrition. Maintaining daily case notes, handling administrative tasks, and preparing incident reports. Salary & Working Conditions Permanent Part-Time Rates starting at $38.65 per hour (excluding allowances). Current positions available: Nerang - Line B 64.5 Hours per fortnight (Week 1: Tue 2pm10:30pm, Sleepover; 6am10am. Week 2: Mon, Wed, Fri 2pm10:30pm, Sleepover; 6am10am; Sun 8am10:30pm, Sleepover until next 8am.) Line A Wallaby Way Week 1: Mon, Wed, Fri 2pm10:30pm, Sleepover until 10am next day; Sun 8am11pm, Sleepover until 8am finish. Week 2: Tue 2pm10:30pm, Sleepover until 10am next day. Sea Breeze Line J 56 Hour contract (8hr shifts 6am10pm). Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun. Week 2: Wed, Thu. Sea Breeze Line K 56 Hour contract (8hr shifts 6am10pm). Week 1: Wed, Thu. Week 2: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun. Wallaby residential Line L All shifts 5pm10:30pm + S/O 6:30am9:00am. Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun. Week 2: Wed, Thu. Wallaby residential Line M All shifts 5pm10:30pm + S/O 6:30am9:00am. Week 1: Wed, Thu. Week 2: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun. Please note shift times may vary by operation and school holidays. Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements A Certificate IV or higher in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field. Current Blue Card (Working with Childrens Check QLD). Current Licensed Care Service (LCS). Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training. Current Queensland Drivers Licence. Two recent referee references from supervisors. Availability to work day, evening and weekend shifts, including sleepovers and awake shifts. Availability to work 5 out of 7 days a week, including every second weekend. About You Ability to engage children and youth in purposeful activities that enhance life skills. Proactive communicator and relationship builder with diverse backgrounds. Utilises trauma-informed approach in child development and behaviour understanding. Recognises the role of family dynamics, particularly in child protection contexts. Supports youth in activities and fosters independent living skills. Effectively contributes to team outcomes. Operates autonomously while seeking guidance as needed. Responds to crises flexibly, considering risk and compliance. Understands provision of care in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999.
