About Your New Role Working at various Waste and Recycling Centres across the City, the WRC Operator is responsible for the general operation and associated duties of a WRC, promoting recycling and providing a safe and hazardfree workplace for staff and customers. The Operator supports the City to reduce waste to landfill through waste and recycling centre options, to achieve strategic targets, improve the customer experience and increase recycling. Key Deliverables Include Ensure all work/activities are carried out in accordance with the obligations detailed in the Workplace Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation and procedures. Control traffic within the Waste Recycling Centre. Maintain all grounds, roadways, site office and surrounds to ensure they are always clean, tidy and hazard free, providing a safe workplace and clear access for customers. Understand and follow safe work instructions (SWI''s) prior to undertaking tasks, seeking advice or assistance from colleagues to ensure correct procedures are adhered to. Communicate effectively, politely and efficiently with all stakeholders, including contractors, City staff and members of the general public. Act as a team player who positively contributes to the improvement of work processes and embraces change. Perform other duties that may arise from time to time within the scope of the position. Promote a positive Council image by providing and promoting a high level of proven customer service at all times. Direct and assist customers to promote recycling, addressing their needs and questions and providing additional information and support where required. Enforce Council Waste and Recycling practices and policies as required. About You Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships. Ability to effectively deal with difficult and nonconforming customers adhering to City of Gold Coast protocols. Work independently and as part of an effective team, undertaking daily activities without being prompted and following directions to perform tasks required of the position. Proven timemanagement skills to meet work priorities and allocate sufficient time for completion. A passion for and ability to influence and promote recycling and reduce waste to landfill. Demonstrated ability to satisfactorily perform the physical duties of this position, maintaining a high level of physical fitness and undertaking physical work in accordance with organisational policy and procedure. Current C class driver''s license. Construction Safety Card White Card (or the ability to obtain). Ability to work outside of core business hours, including weekends, on a rotating rostered basis. Ability to use technology such as iPad to record data and report on assessments, and Outlook for emails.
