Horticulturist Apprenticeship Metropolitan Memorial Parks Join our team and grow with us! Metropolitan Memorial Parks (MMP) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Horticulturist Apprentice. As a primary cemeteries and crematoria operator for the NSW Government, we manage eight Memorial Parks across the Sydney and Hunter region, providing compassionate care and affordable choices for our communities. About the role: As a Horticulturist Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of our experienced Horticulturist team members, gaining handson experience in maintaining our historic grounds, which hold significant heritage and cultural value. You will learn and develop skills in: Grounds maintenance, including mowing, pruning, and planting Landscape construction and renovation projects Plant identification, care, and propagation Irrigation and water management Pest and disease management Support from experienced Horticulturists: Work alongside experienced Horticulturists who will provide guidance, mentorship, and support throughout your apprenticeship Learn from experts in the field and gain valuable industry insights Qualification: Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will become a qualified Horticulturist with a Certificate III in Horticulture Responsibilities: Assist in maintaining grounds, including mowing, pruning, and planting Support landscape construction and renovation projects Assist with plant identification, care, and propagation Collaborate with our team to ensure efficient and effective operations About you: Mature outlook and positive attitude Willingness to learn and grow with our team Possess or willing to obtain a White Card Current unrestricted driver''s license Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments Keen eye for detail and team player What we offer: Permanent full-time opportunity in a supportive team environment Competitive above Award hourly rates with accrued RDOs Varied and rewarding role with uniform and tools provided Access to Employee Assistance Program and free onsite parking Opportunity to work with a dynamic and supportive team Support from experienced Horticulturists to help you succeed Note: Preemployment medical checks and National Criminal History Check required Commitment to safe work practices and culture of safety Requirement to have received inoculations against Tetanus, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B, or willingness to obtain these vaccinations Apply now: If you''re ready to start your career in horticulture and become a qualified Horticulturist, click the Apply Now button to submit your application.
