About The Role TransAlta operates and maintains six Power Stations in Western Australia. With a nearly 30year history in the region, we provide safe, clean and reliable power to large mining and industrial customers and have invested significantly in stable, longterm contracts. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled High Voltage Technician (HV) to join our team in Kalgoorlie. You will report to the Supervisor, Goldfields South and will work closely with Regional Control Centre Operators. The High Voltage Technician will focus on the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of TransAltas high voltage assets throughout the Goldfields region. The base location for this position is at TransAltas Parkeston Power Station; the role is primarily day shift with occasional oncall or night shift duties and is a residential position. Travel to all operating sites is also a requirement. A DAY IN THE LIFE Compliance with all TransAlta Safety Policies, Standards and Procedures Carrying out maintenance activities in line with the Work Management Process Completing maintenance activities in a timely, competent and costeffective manner Planning of major and routine outages Troubleshooting problems with plant equipment for the purpose of supply restoration Participating in incident investigations and providing expert opinion in areas of expertise Providing detailed reports during routine maintenance tasks and unplanned maintenance events Training new staff members in the high voltage department Supervising contract support staff and ensuring safe work standards are maintained Daily collaboration with Regional Control System Operators on plant and equipment performance and the daily maintenance schedule Specific responsibilities are detailed in the Australian High Voltage Isolation and Safe Access Procedure AUS101 Other duties as required and commensurate with role and qualifications About You To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following musthave qualifications and experience: Electrical trade qualification or higher HV Switching Ticket Ability to work safely both independently and within a team environment Intermediate computer skills (email, Word, spreadsheet, databases) are required Must be able to work in hot & cold environments, at heights and within confined spaces Working knowledge of and ability to interpret mechanical, electrical and P&ID drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams Working knowledge of power generation, transmission and distribution Support and contribute to an environment of open communication and collaboration among the entire team Deliver on your commitments and be flexible to operational needs Conduct all activities with a high level of integrity and in compliance with TransAltas corporate code of conduct Show respect at all times to colleagues, customers and contractors THE PERKS Competitive salary Annual bonus scheme Private health insurance Familyfriendly roster Work/life balance initiatives, including quarterly wellbeing days Access to financial assistance for medical travel & accommodation THE ESSENTIALS Successful candidates will be required to provide a valid police clearance (within the last six months) and undertake a preemployment medical.
