Understanding of light vehicle systems and components. How to use diagnostic tools and technical manuals. Problemsolving and faultfinding techniques. Effective communication with team members and customers. Time management and professional workplace conduct. The ideal candidate will be confident, selfmotivated, and eager to collaborate within a team environment. A genuine interest in the automotive and engineering industries, coupled with a curious mindset and a strong passion for problemsolving, is equally valued alongside academic achievements. Must have 5 qualifications at National 5 level, these must include Maths, English and a Science. Predicted grades will be taken into consideration. Onthejob training will be carried out in the employers workshop alongside your workplace mentor. Offthejob training will be typically a oneweek block release at college. You will build portfolios to record training, experience and skills gained throughout your apprenticeship. You will be expected to selfstudy and with the combination of onthejob and offthejob training, you will be working towards the Modern Apprenticeship Framework standards for Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, including Core Skills.
