The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is seeking to create a talent pool of highly experienced and strategic leaders to potentially join our team in Finance, Advisory, Procurement and Performance for the role of Manager Business Advisory. This critical role will lead the delivery of strategic financial and business advisory services for various divisions within DPIRD. A short-term position for up to 6 months with a possible extension is immediately available in the first instance. About the role With responsibility for a high-performing team and budget oversight, you will have influence across financial strategy, governance and accountability at a state level. As Manager, you will: Lead the provision of business and financial advisory services across assigned divisions, ensuring strategic alignment and operational effectiveness Oversee divisional budgeting, forecasting, labour analytics, capital planning, and management reporting to support evidence-based decision-making Develop and monitor divisional financial strategies that align with departmental objectives and drive long-term sustainability Act as the principal advisor on complex financial matters, providing high-level analysis and strategic insights to support executive decision-making Support the development of business cases, including risk assessments and savings plans, to inform investment and resource allocation Review funding submissions and business proposals to ensure financial viability and alignment with departmental priorities Provide critical analysis and performance reporting on divisional initiatives, highlighting financial outcomes and improvement opportunities Advise senior stakeholders on savings targets, financial risks, and mitigation strategies to enhance fiscal resilience Collaborate with Corporate Services to strengthen financial systems, processes, and internal controls across the Department Drive initiatives that enhance business performance, operational efficiency, and alignment with strategic goals. About you To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate that you are a strategic finance professional and trusted advisor who brings: Relevant tertiary qualifications and eligibility for CPA Australia or CA ANZ At least 5 years experience in a senior finance or business advisory role Proven expertise in performance reporting, forecasting, and strategic financial analysis Strong knowledge of the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, Treasurers Directions, and Australian Accounting Standards Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder engagement across complex environments Advanced capabilities in communicating with influence across diverse audiences Leadership in collaborative initiatives and negotiating outcomes Experience in driving accountability, integrity, and results delivery People leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing teams Commitment to financial sustainability and regional prosperity through impactful advisory work.
