Youll be part of a forwardthinking organisation that supports innovation, collaboration, and professional growth, and which aspires to be the exemplar of Local Government.The opportunityThe Senior Traffic Engineer Projects supports Councils transport and capital works goals by leading the design and development of traffic and transport projects that improve community safety and accessibility. This role is responsible for delivering key outcomes under the Road Safety Strategy, Integrated Transport Plan, and grantfunded programs, ensuring projects are ready on time and meet compliance requirements. Without this role, project delivery would be delayed, external funding could be at risk, and increased workload could affect quality and efficiency. Alternatives like redistributing work or outsourcing are not sustainable and are costly. Having a permanent inhouse position ensures continuity, technical expertise, accountability, and consistent delivery of Councils strategic transport objectives.What youll be doingLead and manage multiple traffic and transport projects from design to handover, ensuring all approvals and compliance.Prepare project plans, budgets, and documentation, and oversee risk management and cost efficiency.Engage and manage consultants, monitor project progress, and report on outcomes.Collaborate with stakeholders and provide expert advice to support Councils strategic transport initiatives.Respond to community requests and support daily traffic team operations.What you''ll need to succeedDegree in civil engineering or related field, plus strong experience in traffic and transport project management.Expertise in project delivery, design, and construction for transport infrastructure.Advanced skills in strategic transport planning, stakeholder engagement, and problemsolving.Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, budgets, and consultants.Strong communication and relationshipbuilding skills.Proficiency with project management and traffic modelling tools (e.g., MS Suite, GIS, AUTOCAD, SIDRA).Knowledge of current transport policies and safety standards.To be considered for this role applications should includeA maximum {1-2 depending on role}-page cover letter which should outline your interest in the roleA current CV which includes key achievements & relevant qualificationsUncover more about this role in the Position Description attached below, or contact Bivish Ghimire, Coordinator Traffic & Transport via [email protected] will be accepted until 11:30pm on 9 November 2025.To ensure fairness and consistency for all applicants, we are unable to accept late submissions or submissions made via email.
