About the role We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Reporter to join our team in Albany. Reporting to the Editor (Great Southern) and working alongside the team that produces Great Southern Herald, Narrogin Observer, The Extra, and the Albany Advertiser you will play an integral role in uncovering and sharing the stories that matter to local residents, businesses and visitors in this iconic part of the world. Critical to the role are strong writing and communication skills, a nose for news, and a good work ethic. Gathering and writing original news stories for publication in print and online platforms Developing positive relationships with key stakeholders and organisations Breaking news stories and creating engaging content Interviewing and photographing subjects confidently and professionally Liaising with the Great Southern editor regarding story development Representing the brand in a professional and courteous manner About You Tertiary qualifications in Journalism or a similar field Experience as a working journalist is preferred but not essential A passion for community journalism, strong work ethic and selfmotivation Have an eagleeye for detail and excellent copywriting skills The ability to work under high pressure and be flexible with work hours Good interviewing, communication and writing skills A sense of urgency and focus on deadlines A valid drivers licence.
