Temporary Full-time - December 2025 - 30 October 2026 Band 8 - $117,024 - $131,128 yearly, plus 12% statutory superannuation About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, passionate people leader who has a strong focus on legislative and statutory compliance. You will oversee the implementation of governance principles, fraud and corruption control, the risk management framework and the business continuity plan. The role also manages key corporate planning functions, including the preparation of strategic documents such as the Community Vision, Council Plan and Annual Report. Key Responsibilities Delivering timely and forward-looking advice and recommendations on emerging legislative and statutory matters. Providing strategic advice and collaborating with the Corporate Management Team, managers, coordinators, and staff across a broad range of matters, including policies, strategies, and plans related to both operational and strategic objectives. Conducting thorough and objective analysis to draw evidence-based conclusions, while recognising how issues are interconnected and identifying practical solutions to overcome constraints. Leading and supporting staff through effective supervision, guidance, and professional development to foster high performance and alignment with organisational goals. Key Selection Criteria High-level understanding of, and significant experience with legislation, policy and practices as they relate to local government. Proven ability to prepare clear, concise, and well-structured reports for a range of audiences, including senior management and external stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, including the ability to provide guidance, support and performance oversight to direct reports. Experience in developing and implementing policies, strategies, and procedures across a multidisciplinary organisation. Degree or diploma in a related field and be able to demonstrate a high level of experience within a related field. Alternatively, lesser formal qualifications together with extensive and diverse experience, or intensive specialist experience in a related field. High level of written and verbal communication skills, in particular a capacity to deliver training relevant to the Governance team.
