Temporary / Full time (December 2026) Location Proserpine $93,181.49 per annum The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville. Were seeking a motivated and detail-driven individual to join our team as a Roads Asset Technical Officer. Your opportunity As a Roads Asset Technical Officer, you will play a critical role in the improvement and maintenance of asset data, ensuring it supports longterm planning, accurate condition reporting, and effective delivery of capital works. Key Responsibilities Support the development, integration and maintenance of asset data for roads and drainage infrastructure. Administer rolling asset condition programmes to support predictive modelling and longterm planning. Analyse asset performance to inform renewal programmes and capital works planning. Develop procedures to collect and update asset data in line with Councils Strategic Asset Management Plan. Identify unregistered assets and assess financial implications. Assist with inspections, capital planning, and public transport coordination. Respond to customer enquiries and assist with requests in line with Council policy and legislation. Support grant applications, procurement processes, and project delivery where required. Your skills and experience Essential Current Cclass drivers licence. IPWEA Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning (or equivalent) or at least two years experience developing technical documentation for infrastructure projects and asset management. Strong technical knowledge of transport, stormwater and coastal infrastructure (e.g. roads, pavements, stormwater drainage, retaining walls, footpaths, guardrails, bridges, car parks, boat ramps). Demonstrated understanding of strategic asset management principles and practices. Demonstrated experience in using relevant standards such as Austroads, QUDM and Australian Standards. Advanced computer literacy, with the ability to utilise financial, records management, project management, asset management and Microsoft Office Suite programmes. Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail. Ability to engage with technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Knowledge of GIS, asset management systems and infrastructure planning. Desirable Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Business or related discipline. Experience with drafting/design packages such as AutoCAD, 12D, VISSIM, MUSIC. Experience with QGIS, MapInfo or other mapping software with translatable skills.
