Senior Building and Development Compliance Officer Planning & Development | Building/Construction, Planning Permanent Full-time (average of 38 hours per week) The City of Rockingham is located 40km south of the Perth CBDand is one of the fastest growing local governments in the southmetropolitan area. This role sits within our Compliance and Emergency Liaison teamand is responsible for the enforcement of laws within thejurisdictional area of the City. In this role you will beresponsible for conducting inspections and leading thoroughinvestigations into suspected breaches of the law relevant tobuilding and development compliance legislation and a variety oflocal laws. You will also prepare legal actions for the enforcementof applicable laws and assist with the mentoring and support ofCompliance Officers. In order to be successful, you will have a passion forcompliance and highly developed negotiation, interpersonal andcommunication skills. You must possess substantial relevantpractical experience in conducting compliance and enforcementinvestigations and have substantial knowledge and the ability toapply and interpret building and development legislation, policy,schemes and approvals. You will also have substantial experience ina customer service role and it is desirable that you have knowledgeof court procedures. To be considered for this role, you must address thefollowing selection criteria as part of your onlineapplication: Ability to understand, interpret and apply relevantbuilding and development legislation including the BuildingAct 2011, Building Code of Australia, Caravan Parks and CampingGrounds Act 1995, City Town Planning Scheme, Litter Act 1979,Local Government Act 1995, Planning and Development Act 2005,Residential Design Code and other City policies andapproval processes, schemes and local laws. Practical experience in compliance / enforcement in LocalGovernment or State Government or other relevant area. Sound analytical and decision making skills. Sound negotiation and interpersonal skills.
