Join the National Gallery as a Curatorial Assistant to support cataloguing and collection development in Australian prints and drawings. Your Role Heres what you will be doing: Cataloguing Australian prints and drawings within the department of Prints and Drawings Assisting the Curator, Australian Prints and Drawings and Senior Curator, Prints and Drawings with collection development Drafting acquisition submissions Conducting provenance research Writing labels for exhibitions Coordinating the movement of works of art Delivering web-based information on the National Gallerys collection of Australian prints About You The company is looking for: Proven interest in and knowledge of Australian art Commitment to developing a career as a curator in prints and drawings Experience with collection management databases and database entry Highly developed computer literacy and interest in web-based access to collections Experience with KE, EMu, or similar databases is desirable Understanding of the National Gallerys collections and collecting policy Ability to carry out provenance research Sound research skills and ability to work methodically under limited supervision and to deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team Tertiary qualifications in visual art/art history or relevant experience including ability to identify works of art by media category Australian citizenship Ability to complete a police check and obtain/maintain Baseline Level security clearance Training & Development Professional development role within the Curatorial and Programs Portfolio How to Apply Applicants must be Australian citizens and able to complete a police check and obtain a Baseline Level security clearance.
