Microbiology is a key department of any Pathology Laboratory and by joining our dynamic team, you will be working in one of the largest regional laboratories in the state, servicing Lismore Base Hospital and the Northern Rivers Community. Lismore Base Hospital is a regional referral hospital providing a wide range of health services to residents in Northern NSW, including operating theatres, intensive care, general medical and surgical wards, womens care unit, paediatric unit, renal unit and emergency department. What You''ll Be Doing Responsible for delivering a range of operational laboratory activities including the coordination and provision of scientific and technical training and the ongoing review, development and quality management of laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures, quality standards and continual process improvement. The position involves participation in a 7day rotating roster and oncall roster. Qualifications Bachelor''s degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification with relevant subjects from a recognised tertiary institution. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services relevant to the laboratory, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Control Systems and computer programmes such as Microsoft Office suite. Customerfocused approach with welldeveloped interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients, clinical and laboratory staff, report writing skills and statistical evaluation of scientific data. Ability to work responsibly and efficiently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment while working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the laboratory. Problemsolving and analytical skills including the ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment.
