Preference will be given to candidates based regionally, with a focus on Queanbeyan, Armidale, Dubbo and Coffs Harbour Professional Officer 1-4, salary starting from $137,176.00 p.a commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience Make a real impact on drought resilience in NSW. Join the Climate Applications team at DPIRD and use your data skills to support real-time climate monitoring, forecasting, and drought coordination. Help shape the NSW Enhanced Drought Information System (EDIS) and contribute to high-profile reports like the State Seasonal Update. Why this role matters: Drive climate intelligence that informs decision-making across NSW Collaborate with experts in climatology, agriculture, and data science Deliver insights that support communities and industries facing climate challenges What youll do: Maintain and enhance EDIS codebase and architecture Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data accuracy Build and manage data pipelines for Power BI dashboards Support climate projects using Python, R, and Matlab Respond to internal and external data requests What were looking for: Skilled coder with experience in scientific computing (Python, R, Matlab) Passion for climate resilience and evidence-based insights Experience in agricultural/natural systems modelling and Linux environments Post graduate degree in Science, Geographic Information Systems, Agricultural Science, Computer Science or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent industry experience.
