Food and Environmental Services Assistant Aged Care Permanent and casual opportunities available. About Central Gippsland Health Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. CGH is located in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne. The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps. CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond, with beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services, and general medical and sub-acute rehabilitation services. CGH also provides aged care and community services in the Wellington Shire and beyond, operating four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra and Heyfield, delivering high-quality, person-centred care in supportive and homelike environments. CGH offers a wide range of community-based services that help people remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes, including Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs and other tailored inhome services. The integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology and social work. CGH also provides accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing and is a leading teaching hospital affiliated with Monash Universitys School of Rural Health. About the Role You play a key part in creating a welcoming and safe environment for residents, patients, visitors, and staff across our services. In this handson role, youll help prepare and deliver nutritious, greattasting meals while maintaining a clean, comfortable, and homely space for everyone to enjoy. You take pride in presentation, teamwork, and attention to detail knowing that your work directly enhances the health, comfort, and happiness of those in your care. Duties Prepare, plate, and deliver meals with care, ensuring every dish meets food safety and dietary standards. Maintain spotless kitchens and dining areas by following infection control and hygiene practices. Support smooth daily operations by assisting with stock control, ordering, and restocking supplies. Contribute to a clean, organised, and uplifting environment through general cleaning and laundry support. Work collaboratively with a friendly team, ensuring residents needs are met with respect and kindness. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Certificate in Food Safety Practices and safe chemical handling (or willingness to complete training). Experience in food preparation or cleaning within health, aged care or hospitality settings. Strong understanding of hygiene, infection control and workplace safety standards. A positive attitude and excellent communication skills you enjoy working with others and helping people. Great attention to detail, reliability and pride in delivering highquality service every day.
