The school aims to support diverse learners through innovative programs and flexible learning options.Role and ResponsibilitiesKarratha SHS is seeking Home Economics Assistants who are energetic, well-organised team players with strong communication skills. Experience in hospitality kitchens or as a food prep assistant is beneficial.Suitable applicants will be able to work independently and assist the teacher by planning, preparing and cutting food before classes. You will be responsible for placing food orders online and ordering stock; computer skills are highly regarded. The role includes cleaning and maintenance of equipment, fixtures and fittings, ovens and laundry duties, and assisting with textile classes. Knowledge of sewing machines and overlockers would be beneficial but not essential.We have a senior school commercial kitchen and two food preparation rooms.Qualifications and EligibilityTo work with us, you must:be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; andconsent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Educations Screening Unit before you start.Additional eligibility and training requirements are outlined in the attached Job Description Form (JDF).Selection CriteriaApplicants should be highly competent and organised with time management and the ability to prioritise tasks.
