This is a hands-on outdoor role where your gardening skills will directly contribute to a positive visitor experience and the overall aesthetic appeal of the Don River Railway site. If you enjoy working with plants, take pride in outdoor spaces, and are keen to support a community-focused heritage attraction, this is a highly valued opportunity.Key Responsibilities & DutiesPerform general gardening duties, including planting, weeding, pruning, watering, and mulching.Maintain garden beds, lawns, and landscaped areas around the railway precinct.Assist with minor landscaping projects or improvements.Identify and report any issues related to grounds maintenance or plant health.Utilise gardening tools and equipment safely and effectively.Collaborate with other site maintenance volunteers and staff.Adhere strictly to all DRR safety procedures and site guidelines, including proper use of PPE.Contribute to a positive and welcoming outdoor environment for all visitors and volunteers.Anticipated Impact & Why Volunteer with UsYour contribution as a Gardener is vital to the Don River Railway. All successful applicants undergo a National Police Certificate check and a Working with Vulnerable People Check (Registration to Work with Vulnerable People in Tasmania). All costs for these checks are covered by Don River Railway. We seek individuals who are reliable, organised, and possess a strong attention to detail and a passion for gardening.Time & LocationLocation: Don TASTime required:Regular - less than 6 monthsDays: Weekdays, WeekendsTimes: Mornings, AfternoonsFlexible hours, min. 2-4 hrs/week.
