OverviewPlant Operator / Labourer (Multiple Roma Based Positions)Council is recruiting Plant Operator / Labourers to join various teams in Roma.Parks & GardensMaintain the presentation of the Roma''s parks and open spaces in line with service level standards, including but not limited to:Maintenance of open spaces, parks and gardens, including mowing, weed control / spraying, irrigation, landscaping and pruningSlashing, whipper snipping and weed control including town entrance ways and CemeteryLitter control in parks, open spaces, and town approachesMaintenance of gutters and drainage infrastructure for parks & open spacesMowing of parks & open spaces, footpaths and pathwaysTree maintenanceInspection of park infrastructure i.e., playgroundsGarden beds and street scape enhancements and maintenanceUrban Streets, Drainage, & FootpathsMaintain the presentation of the Roma township area in line with service level standards, including but not limited to:Slashing, whipper sniping and weed control around urban streets including town entrancesLitter control in urban streets and town approachesMaintenance of culverts, gutters and drainage infrastructureMaintenance of long drains and vacant landDaily cleaning of Roma''s CBDStreet tree maintenanceAssistance with the delivery of burials and cemetery maintenanceWater, Sewerage, & GasMaintenance of work sites and general housekeeping prior to completion including mowing, slashing, weed control and collection of waste materialRepairs to fences, gates, buildings and other structuresComplete traffic control signage set up, maintenance and collect as per traffic control plansMaintenance of valve and hydrant boxes and markersContribute to preventative maintenance tasks as requiredAssist with water main repairs and sewer blockages and overflowsMaintenance of services at other council facilitiesPerform site visits and take samples and readings as requiredCollection and swapping of chemical containersConduct gas meter readings, as requiredPerform manual duties to contribute to water, sewerage and gas repairs, upgrades and renewalsCarry out site preparation and clean up for specificA position within our Water, Sewerage & Gas team is required to be rostered for after-hours on-call duties and/or may be required to work flexible hours as required by operational needs.Suitable applicants will have:General Construction White CardCurrent Drivers LicenceExperience in plant operator, civil construction, horticulture and/or local governmentAbout:Roma, QldPermanent, Full-Time Positions - 38 hours per weekEntitled to Maranoa Locality Allowance - $72.00 Per Fortnight5 weeks annual leave15 days personal leaveFortnightly Rostered Days OffAnnual Leave LoadingEmployee Assistance Program & Social ClubSalary sacrifice facilities (i.e., rural remote rent assistance, novated leasing, additional super contributions)Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award State 2017 Level 3 - 5How to Apply:Covering letter stating why you are interested in the position.Current resume (CV).Address the questions presented in the application form.Additional InformationMRC reserves the right to close or withdraw vacancies before the advertised closing date, or extend the closing date, without prior notice.The preferred candidate must have the legal right to work in Australia and will be required to undertake a Criminal History Check and a pre-employment medical assessment to assess their ability to perform the genuine occupational requirements of the position.For more information:Website: www.maranoa.qld.gov.auTelephone: 1300 007 662Maranoa Regional Council is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
