Job Description

The TeamWe provide Alcohol and Drug treatment options and support services to clients including referral pathways. We are a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) consisting of Allied Health, Nursing and Medical Offices forming part of the Statewide Mental Health Service, Alcohol and Drug unit. We are located in Ulverstone on the central coast of Northwest Tasmania.The RoleOur services work closely with both the public and private sectors to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. The Registered Nurse contributes to delivering high-quality alcohol and other drug treatment service in accordance with relevant Government Legislation and Regulations, Primary Health Care Principles, Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) policies, procedures and protocols and relevant professional competencies.We provide a range of services including:Comprehensive clinical assessments, treatment and case management services to clients (and their families/carers)Pharmacotherapy treatment and harm minimisation advice as part of the MDT process, including travel to outreach centres and in inpatient facilities.You will needComprehensive knowledge of contemporary evidence-based practice used in the treatment and prevention of alcohol and other drug dependence, including alcohol and other drug assessment, the harm minimisation framework, interventions and prevention activities.Knowledge of, and the ability to undertake, comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions with complex AOD issues.Knowledge of and ability to develop, monitor and implement quality assurance and improvement activities and/or research.Note: Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.Why TasmaniaThe Department of Health Tasmania oversees various hospitals across the state, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional Hospital, and Mersey Community Hospital, as well as district hospitals and ambulance services. Tasmania, Australia''s only island state, offers natural beauty and a lifestyle that supports health careers in public health systems and community impact.Details of appointmentPermanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.Location: Ulverstone, TasmaniaSalary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.
