About This Opportunity PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of this role, this role is NOT suitable for student placements, people wanting to gain experience in the sector or used for Centrelink obligations. We are looking for someone with a great sense of humour, who is patient and kind and willing to assist a lady with a disability who is lonely, isolated and vulnerable to improve their life circumstances, help her to access the community and be willing to speak up for her if needed. It would be perfect if this person also had experience with people with memory loss. No qualifications are required but your desire to help others. Orientation and ongoing support in order to fulfill this role will be provided to the right applicant. Your Involvement As a Citizen Advocate, you will be a trusted friend and ally to someone who may face challenges in navigating systems, advocating for their rights, or simply finding their place in the community. You will spend time together building a relationship based on trust and mutual interests. You will negotiate visits to what suits you both, knowing this may change from time to time and that more or less time may be needed. By being there consistently, you can help the person explore new opportunities, make informed decisions, and amplify their voice in matters that affect their lives.
