Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Field Ranger in Murwillumbah, New South Wales. You will safeguard animal welfare, protect the local environment, and manage public spaces. This mixed officeandfield role offers variety and the chance to make a real difference in the Tweed region. Responsibilities Secure and manage animal control activities, including livestock, cats, dogs and any other companion animals, in accordance with the Companion Animals Act and other relevant legislation. Maintain public spaces, overgrown land, and precincts, addressing issues such as illegal dumping, unlicensed parking and general environmental compliance. Engage daily with the public, providing clear communication, customer service and conflict resolution skills. Prepare accurate reports, incident logs and formal correspondence for both office use and regulatory bodies. Respond to compliancerelated issues and investigate incidents under applicable legislation. Collaborate with the Ranger Team to deliver community education and regulatory functions across multiple Acts, including the Local Government Act, Road Transport Act, Australian Road Rules, Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and the Protection of the Environment Operations Act. Balance field duties with professional report writing in the office. Qualifications Passion for the natural environment and community service. Experience in preparing correspondence and detailed reports. Knowledge or interest in animal care and handling techniques, including the capture of livestock, cats and dangerous dogs. Understanding of regulatory and enforcement functions or a willingness to learn. Strong competency in interpreting and applying legislation. Current, unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence. What We Offer Base salary of $62,124$71,178 per annum, plus 12% super. Work schedule of 76 hours over a 9day fortnight. Training and professional development opportunities.
