Base pay range $77,950.00/yr - $81,682.00/yr RNPGA, Grade 3, $77,950 - $81,682 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation plus 25% No Fixed Hours Allowance About the role THIS IS A PERMANENT, FULL-TIME POSITION THIS POSITION IS BASED IN KUNUNURRA APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION CLOSE AT MIDDAY ON WEDNESDAY, 5 NOVEMBER 2025 Stretching from the Pilbara Region in the south to the Northern Territory border in the east, the Kimberley Region manages over 3,800,000 hectares of land and water on behalf of the Western Australian community. Visitor highlights include Purnululu, Windjana Gorge, Geikie Gorge and Tunnel Creek national parks, as well as world class marine-based experiences including Horizontal Falls and Montgomery Reef. The region has two major workcentres: one in Broome which accommodates the regional office and West Kimberley District; the other in Kununurra (East Kimberley District). We are currently seeking a Senior Ranger (Marine) to join our team. Under the direction of the East Kimberley Marine and Islands Coordinator, the Senior Ranger (Marine) undertakes and leads annual works programs and day-to-day operations within the North Kimberley Marine Park and coastal and island reserves in the East Kimberley District including: the delivery of programs for parks and visitor services and conservation, including visitor risk management and mitigation works undertaking compliance patrols and maintaining and skippering departmental vessels and equipment assisting with developing and delivering education and interpretive works programs At DBCA, we have adopted Leadership Expectations which provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. In this role, you will be Leading Others to help drive positive change. Selection Criteria Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total. Experience and knowledge of developing and implementing operational plans and works programs associated with visitor management and natural resource management with an emphasis on the marine, coastal and island environment. Knowledge of and experience in the logistics of vessels, operation and skippering of vessels; including holding a certificate of competency as a Coxswain Grade 1 (Near Coastal) as a minimum, with a preference for Master V and Marine Engine Drivers (MED) II qualifications and ability to work within confined spaces (liveaboard vessels), and in remote areas for extended periods of time. Evidence of well-developed oral, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to participate in the delivery and development of interpretative and educational programs; experience in patrol and enforcement activities; and experience in liaising with the public, Traditional Owners and Indigenous groups, commercial tourism operators, community groups and other government agencies. Sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture and ability and willingness to work with Traditional Owners to deliver aspirations and goals through joint management, cooperation or collaborative arrangements.
