WA Country Health Service, Kalgoorlie Hospital is seeking Advanced Trainee Paediatric Registrars for fixed term full time and part time appointments for 6 and 12 months commencing February 2026, with possibility of extension(s). Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 27/02/2026. POSITION PROFILE Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital, the Rural Clinical School and WACHS (Goldfields) offer a unique training position for an Advanced Trainee in Paediatrics. The position is based in Kalgoorlie and includes acute, emergency, neonatal high dependency care and outpatient paediatrics experience. A 50% allocation of time is dedicated to teaching, research, academic and remote work. There is opportunity to participate in remote area clinics. Good communication skills and experience working with Aboriginal families would be of great benefit in this position. The role suits someone with a passion for Aboriginal and rural health planning a career in rural and remote paediatrics. Working with a team of experienced rural paediatricians, registrars and RMOs and close supervision from resident consultant paediatricians. The position is offered for a 12-month term although 6-month terms can be considered. Further Information To Consider Applying 247 roster sharing with other junior doctors as first on call, supported by consultant second on call, including some weekend covers. Inpatient cover for paediatric ward, maternity and SCN. Review of ED paediatric patients as required and admitting them. Outpatient clinic, remote clinic attendance including Griffiths clinic. Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings fortnightly and ward review meetings and M&M meetings. Teaching of junior staff, hospital RMOs and medical students. SALARY Registrar Year 1-7 $152,756 to $203,909 p.a. pro rata* Includes base salary $125,010 to $170,682 pa, professional development allowance $10,969 pa and 12% employer contributed superannuation. Senior Registrar Year 1-2, $223,525 to $233,666 p.a. pro rata* Includes base salary $183,317 to $192,371, professional development allowance $16,259 and 12% employer contributed superannuation, pa pro rata. Salary effective as of 03/09/2025. Appointment will be made based on assessment of relevant skills and experience. Essential Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia. Enrolled in Paediatrics Training Program, Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent programs and demonstrates satisfactory progression appropriate for an advanced trainee. Demonstrated current clinical experience in paediatrics and the management of acutely unwell children and neonates. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching of resident, nursing staff and medical students. Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance (Patient Safety and Quality), quality assurance, continuous improvement, and clinical research in the field of paediatrics and adolescent health. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the Aboriginal Cultural Respect Framework. Current C Class drivers license and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home. Experienced or interest in rural paediatric practice in rural setting. Desirable Possession of current Advanced Life Support, Advanced Paediatric Life Support or Emergency Management of Severe Trauma certificates. Demonstrated ability to monitor and review own effectiveness. Experience working with clients from a variety of cultural / ethnic backgrounds.
