Scholarship opportunity for First Nations students The importance of First Nations communities with Stanwell Stanwell''sapproach to First Nations engagement is grounded in the belief that meaningful, long-term partnerships are the foundation for cultural understanding and mutual benefit. We recognise that building genuine, respectful, and long-term relationships with Traditional Custodians and First Nations people is unique in each community. Our operational sites in the South Burnett (Tarong Power Station and Meandu Mine) have a long-standing relationship with the Wakka Wakka people and the Cherbourg community. We are focussed on developing additional pathways and delivering meaningful outcomes for our local First Nations people and communities. The scholarship establishment and subsequent implementation is a collaborative effort by Stanwell and codesigned with representatives of the Wakka Wakka Native Title Aboriginal Corporation Board (WWNTAC), Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council Cherbourg Elders Advisory Group (CASCCEAG) and education community. What does the Scholarship cover? We understand the hardships faced by students in local regional communities to attend university. This scholarship is open to First Nations people connected to the South Burnett community to assist while living and studying away from the region. The goal of the scholarship is to support a pathway to a career in the Energy Industry, namely with Stanwell. The university study needs to relate to the energy sector and although not exhaustive, the potential fields of study could include: Engineering, Health and Safety, Environment, Human Resources, Finance, Science, Business, Procurement, Communication and Marketing, Legal studies etc. The scholarship program includes: $10,000 per annum (paid in 2 x $5,000 payments) for up to 4 years Internship opportunities Am I eligible? The scholarship is open to First Nations people who are connected to or reside in the South Burnett or surrounding communities and are studying (or planning to study) full time; you are a recent school-leaver; you can demonstrate service to community, and have commenced or intend to commence university studies in 2026.
