Overview Western Downs Regional Council (WDRC) has been awarded the Queensland Large Employer of the Year for the Darling Downs South West Region for 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. We are seeking a qualified plumber/drainer/gasfitter to support the Utilities Department and provide safe water and wastewater services across the Western Downs. The Opportunity This position is based in Jandowae, with the start location potentially Dalby Depot if the applicant lives in Dalby. The role involves traveling to smaller towns across the region. Operating from within the Utilities Department, this role will assist the Utilities Senior Network Operator in providing a range of services that support the provision of safe water and wastewater services across the Western Downs. Responsibilities include meeting statutory requirements for performance, safety and environmental management and ensuring customer service standards are achieved to a high standard. About Yourself A person in this position will need to hold a Certificate III in Plumbing & Drainage and a valid Gas Work Licence. Additionally, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable: WH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card Open C Class Driver''s Licence (medium rigid class desirable) Ability to read, interpret, and implement traffic management plans and install/remove signs and devices in accordance with procedures Relevant competencies such as confined space, working at heights, trench shoring, MUTCD Level 2, pipe welding, or willingness to obtain them A medical assessment may be required to determine physical fitness for the role Fit testing for tight fitting respirators within the first three months and maintaining compliance with fit-testing standards Benefits Work/life balance: flexible work arrangements and wellness programmes.
